Periodically I am hoping to feature one of our upcoming beautiful brides here on the blog and ask them some questions about their wedding plans! So for my very first Bride Talk I approached one of our June 2010 brides, Kandis! Being the fun, awesome person she is, she was eager to let me in on some of the excitement of her wedding plans!
I hope you enjoy reading through this little question and answer, I know there were a few times that my heart melted a little and I had to say “awwww”
Here is a picture from Kandis and Devin’s engagement session that we did last summer. Happy reading and a big thank you to Kandis for participating. We are SO excited for your day in June!

What part of wedding planning do you spend the most time on?
Our GUEST LIST!! Oh my goodness!!! What a challenge that has been! We had no idea how many people made up our network of support. Over the years we have been blessed with friends and family who have influenced us, guided us, challenged us, softened the blow of the hardships and celebrated the successes. We want all of these people to share in our day. What we didn’t anticipate, was the LARGE amount of people that fell into that category!!!
Do you have any tips you can share for finding the perfect wedding dress?
HAHA!!! Considering I have two….;-)
I think what I have come to learn is that you just have to keep open minded and try everything on. Dresses look entirely different ON then hanging on the racks. I had a very narrow focus when I started my treasure hunt! I was getting NO WHERE FAST with that sentiment!! Once I broadened my perspective all kinds of dresses came and now I can’t decide which one!
Have you seen what Devin is wearing?
I have not…nor has he seen what I’m wearing!
What color palette have you chosen?
I actually wanted the simple, yet classic BLACK & WHITE wedding. Initially, we were aiming for a “Black Tie Affair” OR a “White Hot Lounge”, but figured that was getting a bit ‘over-the-top’ for my small town family! I may add a splash of color using my centerpieces, but those details have not been entirely sorted out.
Are you following any wedding traditions?
I certainly don’t feel obligated to follow tradition. A simple flower in the hair shakes the traditional veil. A wedding cake will be replaced with cupcakes. I would say our wedding is more modern – we’re getting married in a church, which is about the only traditional aspect of the wedding.
Have you picked out your wedding day jewelry?
I haven’t even thought about that. My mother-in-law to be is a Fifth Avenue Consultant – I think I will be well taken care of!
How about wedding bands?
Well…
Devin had my engagement ring specially made – it’s absolutely beautiful and everything I wanted!! Finding a wedding band to match…has not been so easy! I think I was at EVERY jewelry store in Regina and found nothing that suited it or was a good fit. Currently, I have a jeweler working on a design for me. I’m excited to see what he comes up with – Devin helped with that process too! He seems to have an eye for this kind of thing and I trust him 100% to get it perfect for me!
Do you have any stress relieving tips to share with other brides?
Hire a wedding decorator!!! Enough said.
What part of your wedding are you most looking forward to?
Holding my husbands hand for the first time.
Any memorable weddings you’ve been to in the past?
Oh I have been to MANY MANY MANY weddings over the years!!! They ALL have their special moments and each were unique in their own way.
I do have to mention my sister’s wedding – she has been my biggest influence in life. I respect her SO much and feel such a sense of pride to call her my sister. The day she walked down the aisle was a GREAT day!!!
What is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
I’m WAY more EXCITED for my MARRIAGE than my actual WEDDING DAY. I think that says it all.
